New GEF project to promote sustainable land management, ecosystems resilience


With the changing and uncertain climate, especially shrinking farming workforce and conflicts in the northern agro-ecological zones, Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is putting together a project to promote the sustainable management and resilience of ecosystems as a means to address food insecurity in the country.

Women Farmers in Kano, Champion Community Inputs Revolving Scheme to boost Rice Production and local consumption

Women groups trained and strengthened on improved agricultural practices and parboiling to enhance Rice and groundnut production and jerk up local consumption  as part of the WOFAN/ CARI joint  project are now championing a community inputs revolving scheme,which includes  access to certified inputs, agro-chemicals ,  protective clothing’s, irrigation  and parboiling/ oil extraction equipment, fertilizers  after they have completed a  3 months weekly training on the seasonal calendar
